Last Person Standing is a fitness elimination challenge. Each week you log heart-rate minutes toward a threshold. Hit it and you survive; miss it and you're eliminated. The threshold rises every week until one person is left standing.
Time your heart rate spends in Zone 2 or above during any activity — running, cycling, rowing, brisk hiking, anything your watch records with heart rate. Minutes are computed from your actual heart-rate samples, not the workout label. (In True Zone 2 challenges, only Zone 2 itself counts — see below.)
Zones are estimated from your age: max heart rate = 220 − age.
| Zone | Feels like | Heart rate (% of max) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Easy — warm-up, casual walking | below 60% |
| 2 | Steady — you can hold a conversation | 60–70% |
| 3 | Moderate — talking gets harder | 70–80% |
| 4 | Hard — short sentences only | 80–90% |
| 5 | Max effort — unsustainable | 90%+ |
Standard challenges count zones 2–5; True Zone 2 challenges count zone 2 only.
Some challenges score only minutes spent inside Zone 2 — time in zones 3–5 doesn't count. It rewards disciplined aerobic-base training: going harder doesn't help your score. The challenge page shows when a challenge uses True Zone 2; otherwise standard Zone 2+ scoring (zones 2–5) applies.
Any watch or tracker that syncs to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android) — Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung, Polar, Coros, Amazfit and others all feed those. Connect LPS to Apple Health or Health Connect in the app and your workouts sync automatically.
On Android, LPS reads workouts from Google Health Connect — your watch's own app has to write workouts into it. One-time setup:
Menu names shift between app versions — look for "Health Connect" in your app's settings or connected-services screen.
On iPhone there's usually nothing to set up: watch apps ask to write to Apple Health when you first install them, and LPS reads from Apple Health once you grant it access.
Every challenge week is a 7-day window on the challenge's own weekly cycle (shown on the challenge page) — not necessarily Monday to Sunday. The week closes at midnight in the challenge's timezone at the end of its 7th day; results post about 12 hours later, around noon, so your watch data has time to sync. We send reminders 48 and 12 hours before the close, a sync nudge right when the week closes, and a results notification when they're in.
Each challenge starts at its initial threshold (say, 150 minutes) and rises by a fixed increment every week. Challenges begin with a warm-up period before Week 1 — no eliminations during warm-up, so you can get your syncing sorted.
When the week closes below the threshold, you're eliminated from that challenge. You can still see the leaderboard and cheer on the survivors — and join the next challenge.
Yes — corporate challenges support teams with team leaderboards alongside the individual game. See the pricing page for corporate options.
Small challenges (SPARK) are free. Larger and corporate challenges are paid — see the pricing page for current tiers.
We store only computed zone minutes per workout — never your raw heart-rate stream, GPS routes, or other health records. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
Work down this list — it's ordered by how often each one is the culprit:
